Duvel is a Belgian ale and IPA brand from Puurs, Belgium.
Duvel Moortgat was founded in 1871 by the Moortgat family in Breendonk, near Antwerp, and is still run by the family's fourth generation. Its golden ale was named Duvel, Flemish for devil, after a local tasted it and called it 'a real devil'. The beer is refermented in the bottle and matured for weeks, which gives it its fine bubbles and big foam.
