Kingfisher is a pale lager and beer brand from Bengaluru, India.
Kingfisher belongs to United Breweries, whose roots go back to 1857 when several Indian breweries joined forces, and the brewer is now part of the Heineken group. The recipe was designed as a lighter take on a European pilsner to suit India's humid climate. It became a fixture of British curry houses from the 1980s and is now sold in more than 60 countries.
