Saltire Rare Malt is a whisky brand from Falkland, Scotland.
Saltire Rare Malt is an independent bottler in the market square of Falkland, Fife, right opposite Falkland Palace. In 1494 King James IV ordered malt there for Friar John Cor 'to make the water of life', the first written record of Scotch whisky. It began with two friends from Fife, Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie, who spent three decades seeking out exceptional casks for their own collection. Then came the obvious question: what's the point if nobody else gets to taste it? Every release is a single cask, chosen because it excited them, bottled with care and numbered. Made for curious drinkers who like something a little out of the ordinary.
